Thursday June 5th
61st Day

Second day on Bren Gun Field 30 out of 50. Good to shoot out of. Night manoeuvres.

Friday June 6th
62(nd) Day

Longest routine march so far. Over 12 miles. From 6.30 until 10.15. Plenty tough. Battalion Parade. Finish for day. Leave event in Cairo. Bought 2 table cloths. Saw Keith down YMCA. Arranged to see him Wednesday night.

Saturday June 7th
63(rd) Day

Battalion parade in morning. Rest of day off. Wrote all afternoon. Did some washing.

Sunday June 8th
64(th) Day

Church parade in morning. Wrote all afternoon. Went to Pall Mall pictures at night saw “Tropic Holiday”, Dot Lamour – Ray Milland. Keith was there but did not see him.

Monday June 9th
65th Day

Routine march in morning. No afternoon parade. Night manoeuvres – packs & shovels. Tough going.

Tuesday June 10th
66(th) Day

Little drill in morning. Company for duty. Swimming sports in Maadi Bath in afternoon. No parade. Wrote at night in church hall.

Wednesday June 11th
67(th) Day

Routine march in morning. March in afternoon to see swimming sports. Saw Keith at night & wrote. Arranged to see him YMCA Sunday and set a day for pyramids.

Thursday June 12th
68(th) Day

King’s Birthday but drill and manoeuvres on march. Night marching.
