I think its fitting for the last few posts on our trip to Myanmar to be of our sunset visit to a stupa. I confess I don’t know which stupa we were taken to. Whichever one it was, had an amazing view from the upper tier over the plain of Bagan, with the thousands of stupas.
There were a handful of sellers of various wares but like most in Myanmar, a simple “no thank you” was sufficient and they left you alone to enjoy the incredible vista.
As the sun set, the reds and golds were vibrant and across the plain the spires of the distant stupas became shadowed outlines in the distance. I’m not usually big on sunrises (to early) and sunsets (yawn) but this one was simply spectacular.

Great captures! We were thinking of visiting Myanmar last year. All the travel guides were shouting how ‘untouched’ it was. 🙂
I hope you get the opportunity to go, its still relatively untouched by tourism. Its an amazing place with interesting history.
Great pictures, and what a wonderful place! I really hope I get to visit Mayanmar one day, it is far far up on my bucketlist 🙂
I highly recommend it! 🙂
There is so much to see in that country. It is so awesome that it is opening up although there is still a lot of work to do.
Much like many other developing countries – always a long way to go but things are moving fast!
