Other than England, I’d never been to Europe before. So my first foray into Europe proper was Barcelona. We got to spend a few days here prior to our Transatlantic cruise.
We stayed at a small hotel on La Rambla, right near the Gothic Quarter. Barcelona is a fantastic city to visit. Easy to get around and loads to do. Plus heaps of history around and below you, as we found when we visited The Museu d’Història de la Ciutat (Museum of the history of the city), which shows you the roman ruins below the modern city.
Anyway a few photos from our days in Barcelona. Don’t ask me what these buildings are or where to find them, we just wandered around so who would know? I don’t 😉

Gosh, it’s kinda claustrophobic invoking?
The castle’s nice.
Narrow streets and amazing architecture. The old gothic buildings were incredible.
Neat architectural details. Will you be posting more photographs?
Yes, I will have a few more posts coming up soon – just not sure when 🙂
Super! With regard to “…coming up soon”, I know the feeling.
So much to do, so little time – definitely a modern issue 😉
Did you visit the Gaudi buildings?
I was robbed in Barcelona but I would still go back.
Only Sagrada Família and Park Guell. We had pickpocketers try it on but we always safety pin our money into our pockets in big cities anyway. We knew that it was known for it so were well prepared in advance 🙂
Just came across your blog..nice pics of Barcelona. Last time I was there was in 1996 so nice to be able to view these :).
Glad you dropped in and found it. We loved it. Our trip was back in 2010 so a little more recent than yours 😉
Thanks for the comment and pickpockets! Got robbed!
Thanks for the photographs. It’s like going on a vacation without leaving home?
🙂 Its such fun to see other people’s amazing holiday destinations – I swear my list gets longer by the day.
🙂
