These photos were most likely taken by my Grandfather between April and June 1942 when he was in Syria. Captions used for the photos are what he wrote on the backs of the photos.
14 Weeks Worth of Socks 
I look at structures such as shown in the photographs and think, What went wrong?” Structures such as there can only be built in times of peace and prosperity.
I fear these old ruins probably aren’t standing now – I hope someone can prove me wrong.
