Grandad’s WWII Diary – Photos of Jerusalem 1942

In my Grandfather’s War Diary entry from Friday August 21 1942, he visits Jerusalem & Bethlehem.  He said “… saw Wailing Wall then to Jerusalem and went through the million dollar American YMCA – beautiful building and grounds.”

He most likely took (or purchased) these photos on this visit that day.

The comments under the photos are his own words from the backs of the photos.

  1. I have some of the exact same photos in my collection of photos taken by my Grandad when he was stationed there at exactly the same time. They must have bought them as the photos are identical but my Grandad also had a lot more that he must have taken himself as they show him and other soldiers. I’m wondering if maybe your Grandad knew mine and may even be on some of the photos. His name was Douglas Sutton.
