Colonial Downtown Yangon, Myanmar (photo heavy)

I’ll keep this short, its just a bunch of photos of some of the buildings we saw while walking around in downtown Yangon.  Some colonial, some not.  Plus the Fire station, Hindu Temple, Buddist Pagoda, Mosque and many more.

Also see my separate blog post about the Holy Trinity Cathedral & World War 2 Memorial.  You may also like my post about the Yangon Circular Railway.P1230106

  1. I love your pictures of the residential buildings, everything’s so mismatched like a new building has just been dropped in between two old ones!
I’m planning on visiting Myanmar and might have to work Yangon into the itinerary (only been looking at Mandalay and Bagan until now). Any tips or recommendations?

    • Don’t plan on spending too much time in Yangon, the Shwedagon Pagoda is a must see (see my post about that) and wandering the downtown area also which is easy to do. If you want to do the Yangon Circular Railway, I enjoyed it but it has mixed reviews. We wanted to go to the museum but unfortunately it was closed the day we planned to visit – just bad planning on our part.

Mandalay and Bagan are wonderful – I would have liked more time in Bagan.

I will have a lot more info coming up about Myanmar over the next few weeks – I’m busy right now, prepping some new blog posts 🙂
