Around 70kms from Mandalay in the hill town of Pyin U Lwin is the National Kandawgyi Botanical Gardens. Its 177 hectares and at a 1000 metre elevation which means throughout the year, its much cooler so a very popular place for the locals to visit and enjoy the more temperate climate for the day.
Like most botanic gardens world wide, there are a bunch of plants (yeah, I’m not a gardener) and a couple of small museums. Think displays or exhibits including one on petrified wood. There is also a bird aviary and a Takin (goat-antelope from Myanmar) exhibit.
We spent a couple of very pleasant hours wandering through the park. It was very crowded, I’m not sure if this was due to the festival of (plastic) flowers or what its like normally. I swear we have now about a hundred photos of bamboo…
I wouldn’t go out of your way to see this. It rates fairly highly on Tripadvisor but each to their own. It was … nice.
That place looks so colorful! Really nice!

It was very beautiful but very crowded!
The park is so beautiful! I love the carriage in the last photo.
It reminded me of the horseless carriage at Disneyland outside the Haunted Mansion 🙂
