 Thursday October 23rd

201st Day

Squad drill bren gun training.  Swim afternoon.  March to beach very dusty.

Friday October 24th

202nd Day

Packing platoon trench.  Played soccer in afternoon – but too hot and not fit enough.

Saturday October 25th

203rd Day

Game of soccer in morning then swim. Jerry bombed drome at night.  Queer that none of ours seem to chase him.

Sunday October 26th

204th Day

Usual drill – then African Band gave concert during afternoon down at our flat. While there great flight of planes fly over.  Well over sixty in number.  Things seem to be getting ready for some big push.

Monday October 27th

205th Day

Much air activity.  Drill and manouvers.  Put name in for leave.

Tuesday October 28th

206th Day

Desert manouvers all day. Embussing & debussing.  Packed most of gear at night in readiness for leave on morrow.  Retired early. Many Jerry planes over our dromes.  £12.

Wednesday October 29th

207th Day

Left camp at 6.30AM.  Lorry taking us to station.  Train pulled out of Sidi ??? at 9.30.  Unable to obtain seats having to stand in companion way through out journey.  Meal at El Amyria.  Part of train headed off to Alex.  Arrived in Cairo 8PM.  Hundreds of wogs on station pestering to stay at their hotels.  Checked in NZ Club.  Looked around town.
