It was a drizzly autumn day last weekend, and as dachshunds are fair weather doglets only, we decided to chance it and hope for the best with a trip to the beach.
Good decision, as it cleared a bit while we were at the beach, and the doglets could have a good run around and a bit of a sniff.
Beach of choice was South Shore, near New Brighton, through the Spit Reserve. You can only go onto one part of the beach with dogs at the moment due to the Godwits. I don’t think this is particularly well signposted unless you have entered through the main carpark at Spit Reserve. I suspect if you came through one of the other minor access points through the dunes, you may not even have a sign to notify you about it.
As the weather was a bit grim, we pretty much at had the beach to ourselves. We only encountered another couple with a dog and puppy, a family boogie-boarding (at least they had wetsuits on) and another couple walking – during the entire hour we were on the beach.
So onto the photos…

Great pics! I love love love the ocean! Anyway, just wanted to drop by and say “hi!” I look forward to following!!
Yes, it’s starting to get more difficult to get out there for the walk now. It feels like it’s been raining fopr an eternity here. Still haven’t finished cleaning uip and patching up from the storm. Had Lady on my lap until a few minutes ago. Got sick of being a keyboard cushion. She’d been spooked by the plip-plopping of raindrop of the roof. xx Rowena
Its been a mixed bag here but its getting noticeably cold at nights now. We can’t be too far from the first frosts and skifields open next month… brrrr, I’m not designed for winter 🙂
Ditto.
Looks like autumn has caught up to you! Your dogs are adorable.
Yes, autumn is definitely here, only 4 months until spring 🙂 Thanks for the kind words about my babies.
Ah, how I wish to take Bailey to the beach. Your dogs make it look so fun. After 6 months of winter here in Labrador (Canada) and another snowfall overnight, we still have a few weeks to go. Loved the photos.
Alice thinks she freezing to death of the sun doesn’t show – regardless of temperature. She’s definitely not cut out for snow. 🙂 I hope your spring arrives soon!
Oh my gosh! Your pictures of your puppies make me miss my chiweenie Chloe so much! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you liked it 🙂
Too..much…cute…Can’t. Function.
