In my Grandfather’s War Diary entry from Saturday 13 February 1943, he visits Nazareth. He said –
Passed on to Synagogue where Christ preached his first sermon which caused the Jews to threaten to throw him over the cliffs of Mt Tabor sometimes known as the Mt of Precipitation.
In afternoon looked through French Convent which since the war has been changed to a Polish Children’s Refugee School.
He most likely took (or purchased) these photos on this visit that day.
The comments under the photos are his own words from the backs of the photos.

I really enjoy looking at the photographs that you have been posting.
Thanks, I love them too. I have some really interesting one still to post. I’ve a whole set about funeral for some nurses which I am holding as I suspect he may mention that in the diary at some point.
I agree. The photos are of an age and a place that I only know of from the Bible. You really have done a great job.
Thanks – I haven’t read the bible but know a lot more about these places now I have had to research them. I think Israel would be a fantastic place to visit.
Wonderful photos. Especially of the children.
Thanks – not sure if he took them all or bought them but I love that one too 🙂
