With Disneyland beginning the 60th anniversary celebration, I thought it would be fun to highlight some photos from the 50th. We were lucky enough to visit Disneyland a few days after the 50th celebration kicked off in 2005. With it came the new Parade of Dreams that ran through to the end of 2008.
I’m a fan of the Disney parades, I love the colour, the fantasy and the beautiful costumes the performers wear. How they keep smiling along the parade route the entire time is completely beyond me.
There were 8 large floats and dozens of performers and characters in this spectacularly, colourful performance. Some people say skip the parade, and do attractions instead. While I would hae said that when I was younger, I now make more time for the parade which is often a highlight of the day.
If you have been to Disneyland or World, which parade did you see? Or which is your favourite parade?
Makes me want to go!
I am counting down the days 🙂
Lovely vantage point for your shots!
Thanks, yes, right on the train station – great view! 🙂
I had wanted to stand at the original Disneyland’s train station to shoot, too, but the tykes wouldn’t hear of it. 🙂

Wow! Great photos! I haven’t been to Disney World since I was 8 years old. I think it’s time for another visit! 🙂
Its always time to revisit! 🙂
looks so colourful and happy! disney land is a great place! hope i can visit it too someday 😀
It’s wonderful!
I haven’t been to Disneyland in 15 years! I went the first time to the original in 1972 when you bought a booklet of tickets and got two “E-Ticket” ride coupons (Haunted House, Matterhorn). Explaining what an e-ticket ride is now days is too old school for many people. The photos are great!
The Disney geeks get the e-ticket :-). It’s a wonderful place.
I love Disney parades!!
I have been to Disneyland countless times (I only live like a half hour away from it) and yes I consider myself a Disney Nerd. I love that place. I would have to say that they World of Color is my favorite, but I am hoping to see the new Light Parade when I make it to the Diamond Celebration in a couple of months. DisneyWorld is on my bucketlist of things to go to.
I can’t wait to see all the new stuff for the 60th – so excited! 🙂
Me too! 😊
Loved this parade!!
I have very fond memories of that trip. The 50th was very magical.
Brings back memories of our 2013 Disney World Trip – thanks. We enjoyed the “Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Parade.
Oh yes, that was a good one too – I don’t think I have any photos of that though 😦
