… hospital.  Had rather good form – Maoris singing hymns – last part being played.  Continued writing at night.

Saturday May 15

Day 769

Arose early going on ration truck for trip to Ismailia – filled in a few hours returning in time for lunch.  Usual swim afterwards.  At night dance celebrating third birthday of hospital.  Fancy dress dance although only few in costume, some really good.

Sunday May 16

Day 770

Usual morning of pottering about – washing etc.  Swimming in canal in afternoon.  Housie at night then began on letter to Marg being on the last shift 12-2AM.

Monday May 17

Day 771

This morning guard mounted picquet on Sisters Compound.  Wogs stealing several articles – ??? fortunately missed the day shift – best time to work is at night while atmosphere is cool.  Swimming during afternoon.  Concert at night given by 18th ??? Troop.  Could not be compared with the one of last week.  Afterwards finished letter.

Tuesday May 18

Day 772

Thick drizzle during most of day – really uncommon for time of year – did not go swimming but wrote and slept in afternoon.  At night played house then returned and finished Mum’s letter.
