At the Disneyland Resort, at Disney California Adventure is a cute land themed around the Pixar movie “A Bug’s Life“.
For the concept, its similar in feel to the Toy Story Land at Hong Kong Disneyland except at Hong Kong you are made to feel “toy” size but at A Bug’s Land, you are made to feel “bug” sized by use of supersized familiar items and the plantings used in the area (mainly bamboo used to look like grass).
There are 4 rides –
- Flik’s Flyers
- Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train
- Francis’s Ladybug Boogie
- Tuck and Roll’s Drive ‘Em Buggies
It’s Tough to Be a Bug! is a show and I strongly recommend parents of younger children heed the warning signs and perhaps one adult in the group “test rides” this before taking in smaller children. It’s a wonderful show and one of my favourites but it has a number of interactive elements which maybe startling and scary to some children.
Princess Dot Puddle Park is a water play area. During hotter times of the year (or cooler times as children seem to love the water whatever the temperature), you may like to bring swimwear or a change of clothing.
The land is primarily for very small children and the rides are all designed with this in mind. Our nearly 4-year-old nephew loved this area of the park when we visited last year. I think children over the age of about 7 may find this area a little tame but obviously that will be dependant on your child.
